008 - Creative Diploma In Media

HumberMUD tomorrow Thursday 11th June!

Following April/May stirrings of the muddy waters we have invited some people to clarify the Creative Diploma in Media. This is currently being discussed around the city and being presented to businesses for our input.  This has led to an education focus to this month’s event – email your teaching & training colleagues immediately!

Kelvin School do a lot of media work and are set to start with the Diploma in September so this excellent staff team have some real experience to share.

Lynn Collins, Jackie Goodman and HumberMUD regular Gareth Sleightholme will be presenting.

Rapper with a conscience Barmmy Boy is back in Hull at the moment. We have been trying to get him to HumberMUD whilst in the UK so we are delighted to hear from him tonight.  Accompanied by Jon Robson of Café Society and writer Matt Stephenson we should get a great insight into the work they`ve been doing linking Sierra Leone to our region.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9GPZwvcAg8

Isobel Tracy from Volcom will give us the new lowdown on NEETS…Not in Education Employment or Training. There are lots of opportunities for Modern Apprenticeships and placements using talented young staff from this large resource in the city.  Volcom have had some fantastic success transforming people using a range of innovative educational techniques. They are presenting a great resource for the region’s media businesses.  Also news on the Common Treasury – a store of media equipment for use in the area. http://www.volcom.org.uk

So what have we learnt?  That there are other people in the area doing a great job at networking and knowledge events!  Check out this month’s Hull Digital  at the World Trade Centre in Hull Marina - on Tuesday 23rd June at 6.30pm.  We are lucky to get Jon Moss of Hull Digital join us in July so we can find out more about this excellent group of coders and shakers – check em out on http://hulldigital.co.uk/ and get down to the meetings.
