014 - Humbermud Last Call

HumberMUD - Walter's Bar - Scale Lane - Hull - 6pm onwards - THIS
THURSDAY 14th January 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen, please join us this Thursday for what may be the
final MUD event of all time (well here in Hull anyway).

We have so far failed to secure the necessary sponsorship and due to
time-wasters we have, well, run out of time.

Fortunately our ideas live on with other organisations so we will send
news of more successful fund-raisers with the shared aims of revealing
this area to be the hotbed of digital talent and industry it is.

We also live on in the South Bank and will continue in Hull to find
support from any organisation truly interested in our regional
infrastructures.

If you have enjoyed humberMUD then by all means let us know... We have
many friends in the city so you never know.

This month...

Jason Reed - Collaborative Online Learning

Jason is a management consultant experienced in IT and Education. In
practice he facilitates learning, innovation and collaboration.

Currently his main focus is online collaboration:- improving the way
that people work together, meet together and are together. The
“biggest challenge” is enabling people to make the “big
shift” in habit to use online collaboration effectively.

In his view the benefits of online collaboration are:

Better connectivity with our colleagues
Improved innovation in processes, products and the way we do things
together
Better results
Saving travel costs
Saving travel time
Reducing environmental impact
Reducing requirement for office space
Improved business continuity - knowledge workers can function almost
anywhere
Flexibility for employees

Background

Formerly he was the Managing Director of IT Interface, an IT solutions
business that won the “best trainer” award for the Yorkshire Forward
vendor skills programme during 2004. He led the creation of the IT
Interface joint venture in partnership with the University of Hull and
was also a member of the board of Directors of the Humber New Technology
Institute. He has worked extensively with Information Managers from
large and small organisations, analysing their businesses, creating
solutions and managing projects. This experience led him to found the
Information Managers Group (IMG) based in the Humber region.

Recently he has been working as a consultant in the development of
educational systems at Yorkshire and Humber East Lifelong Learning
Network (YHELLN).

Jason is also one of the main facilitators at
http://www.ideaconnection.com
working with teams of online problem solvers from around the world.
