019 - Yes It Is Art!
Your guests this week - tell your friends...
Mark Wigan - the UK's foremost pop artist, successfully exporting his street art to Japan and the world in private collections and urban sites. From squiggled icons to huge murals, from schools to nightclubs - he is it!
"His playful tribal influence can be seen in every club mural, flyer and t-shirt in the capital" Metro
"Paris had Toulouse Lautrec, London's got Mark Wigan" NME
"If a picture tells a thousand words Wigan's drawings are worth an entire library of professorial works on pop culture" The Independent
Christopher Wiles - exhibiting regularly in New York and the UK, harnessing incredible drawing skills to re-work digital photography, turning pixels into pen! Currently Artist in Residence at Peterborough Art Gallery combining over 1500 faces into one pen and ink drawing - Face of Peterborough. Stunning quality - weird and world class. Welcome back to Hull - lecturing at Hull School of Art & Design having started with a BTEC at the old Riley Centre on Anlaby road.
And a sneak preview of Hyperfruit, the fruitmarket area's brand new hyperlocal news site!
