027 - Joining Forces

City Arts Forum at HumberMUD

Hull's City Arts Forum will be hosted at humberMUD, at Fruit on Wednesday 16 February, from 6pm for a 7pm start.

In addition, humberMUD also presents two unique speakers. Perrier Award nominee Jon Reed will discuss the highs and lows of being a successful comedy promoter, while John Peters - who has run several different promotions over the years as well as retail businesses and now the vegetarian Green Ginger Cafe - will explain the funkywormhole phenomenon.

City Arts Forum is a regular chance to network with artists and arts organisations in the city and an opportunity to give your views and opinions on issues affecting the arts in Hull.

Please join us and the City Arts Forum at Fruit and take part as we feel it is important for the creative sector to get together, share information and discuss issues.

Clare Drury, of Hull City Arts Unit, said: "We thought it would be stimulating to join forces on this occassion to widen debate and involvement."

MUD chair Mal Williamson said: "From the cuts ravaging the funded arts to the impact of recession on the commercial cultural life, humberMUD looks at what the hell is going on out there.

"After 9-5 all week, or whatever hours you keep, what is left to sustain your soul?  Arts cuts of 25 per cent are going to be so hard to manage - whether you avoid them or not.  And the recession is hitting events, bars and nightlife very hard.

"We welcome the City Arts Forum to join us for a night of social and cultural exploration.  Understand how the lifestyles we enjoy are being defended by artists and promoters."

The regular mix of networking, speakers, Fudge food, music and great vibes will also be in evidence. Music is supplied by regular MUD fixture DJ The Reverend.

The event is free to attend and open to anyone with an interest in media, design and the creative industries.

Fruit is situated at 62-63 Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1TU within the Fruit Market area.
