Humbermud Press Release - Convention

MEDIA:EDUCATION:INTERFACE
Friday 22nd October, 10am-4pm @ FRuIT, Humber Street, Hull
FREE ENTRY

Part of humberMUD Expo! October 21st - 24th

A free-to-enter conference will look at the links that exist or can be made between the education sector, employers and the media. Media:Education:Interface – the first event of its kind – is part of the four-day-long humberMUD Expo! and takes place this Friday (October 22).

The speaker line-up includes experts from leading local agencies Force-7 and Strawberry, specialists, including broadcasters, who have taken the creative industries into the classroom and other media professionals and educators.

Conference organisers promise that the gathered collection of freelance artists and communications experts, media professionals and lecturers will show just how education can be transformed by all kinds of media interventions.  Media:Education:Interface will also look at the way employers are working closely with education institutions to find the next generation of talent.

humberMUD chair Mal Williamson said: “There's no better way to learn than from other people's experiences. These people are transforming their respective worlds by using the most innovative techniques and methods to engage with people.

“We'll look at how media interventions are used to totally change the classroom or learning environment by empowering students, radically affecting their behaviour and level of achievement. There'll also be information on the best approaches for employers to adopt in order to discover the people with the right set of skills and discovering what works when planning a media project.”

The conference is split into two sessions, with seven speakers on the bill and all delivered in the relaxed and informal surroundings of FRuIT.

Mal added: “This will be a very interesting event and we're also expecting the two sessions to be a lot of fun. I'd urge anyone to attend and, while the event is free, the information available will be priceless.”
