Humbermud Press Release - Expo! Launch

humberMUD Expo! October 21st - 24th  2010 at FRuIT, Humber Street, Hull.

The first-ever humberMUD Expo! launches this Thursday (October 21st) with a packed evening of speakers.

The regular networking and knowledge-sharing organisation takes over Fruit for four days with a heady programme of events that include a conference, an audiovisual extravaganza, a media market day, an 'old technologies'-themed dinner dance and an afternoon of film screenings.

The Expo! gets underway with MUD's monthly meeting which is open to anyone with an interest in the media and creative industries. And the line-up promises more than the  three speakers that attendees have grown used to.

HumberMUD chair Mal Williamson said: “It's the busiest Thursday we've ever had, looks set to be a bit different from the norm and will set up four days of activity brilliantly. We've gone for a 'film industry' themed night and have been approached by speakers to get on the bill. We'll find out more from people that have been there and done it about the ways that creatives in the area are making the most of digital production opportunities that exist in Hull and the Humber. It should set the tone nicely by reminding everyone how much work is going on here.

“We also start with what promises to be a fascinating insight into the legalities of social media in the workplace, including advice on intellectual property rights.

“The whole evening is a really exciting start and we're expecting a big turnout to experience our first Expo! event. All four days are absolutely unmissable.”

Speakers at the Thursday include André Renner, of Nottingham's Sonic Dub Records, who moved successfully into feature films last year and will take the audience through the process of making a feature on a tight budget. Alongside Renner will be Machinima-film whizz Paul Willerton, O-Ten Photography and RTS award nominee Havi Shukar. Two representatives from Yorkshire law firm Andrew Jackson will get the evening started, offering invaluable advice to the growing online community.

The Thursday night event is free to enter. The doors open at 6pm with speakers from 7pm and networking and music from DJ The Reverend starting at approximately 9pm.
