Major mapping project hits MUD

Award-winning architectural practice Surface will discuss their project to revitalise Beverley Road at this month's humberMUD.

Revitalising Beverley Road is examining how communities either side of the main arterial road can be brought together as one community. Every building and plot of land that lines the route will be mapped in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the road and its people. An interactive website is also planned.

Surface founder Richard Scott, who is also the design champion of Hull's £400m Building Schools for the Future programme, will be on hand to explain the Beverley Road project in more detail. Surface will also screen their multimedia presentation Dream_Hull and are expected to share more information about their recent success – being short listed to design a prestigious new entrance for the Science Museum in London.

Other speakers on the night will be drawn from a wide variety of creative and artistic disciplines, including the world of web, games and app design and development and marketing and PR.

Organisers are hoping that the long-running networking spirit of the monthly meeting – this will be the 30th humberMUD - will encourage all those that attend to share their work and knowledge.

Co-organiser Dave Windass said: “While it's great to hear inspirational people like Richard Scott talk about their work, the speakers are just a part of what humberMUD is about. Our meetings present a great chance for people to meet those that work locally in the creative industries, share ideas, talk about projects, build creative teams and find project partners. If you're a business that uses creative talent then here's a chance to buy locally. It's a shop window, if you like, and a really good way to generate business and develop your networks in an informal, fun atmosphere.”

Doors open at Fruit at 6.30pm, speakers present at 7-9pm and are followed by networking opportunities and music. Entry is FREE and anyone with an interest in the media and creative sectors is welcome to attend.
